Important Notes

NOTE: The $300 non-refundable deposit is required in advance to schedule an appointment for service. The deposit will be applied to the scheduled fee for service. Confirmation for service and deposit will be required at least 14 days in advance of the scheduled date for the practical test. The deposit is non-transferable to any additional services. The deposit will be accepted by way of PAYPAL.

NOTE: All fees will be collected prior to services being rendered, and are payable by cash, certified check, or PayPal. I do not accept personal checks or credit cards. My fee is for the appointment, not the outcome. If upon beginning the application process an applicant does not meet the requirements to begin the practical test, or the airplane is found to be in an un airworthy condition, the practical test will not be administered, and the deposit and application fee will not be refunded. Remember, the fee is for the appointment, not the outcome of the test. If the outcome of the Practical Test is un-satisfactory, or a letter of discontinuance is issued, there will be no refund.

NOTE: Retest or continuance of a practical test, if you scheduled with me again, will be charged at the standard full fee for service. I do not offer a discount for the second check ride. “ Yes, I know some examiners do, I do not.”

NOTE: 48 HOUR CANCELLATION NOTICE REQUIRED: “ As you approach your check ride date, if you or your instructor do not feel you are ready, please call me to reschedule. Everyone on your team, including me, wants you to succeed. If you are not ready, then reschedule. Note that I require that you provide a minimum of 48-hour advance notice to cancel or reschedule, or you will forfeit your deposit. With the exception of a legitimate cancellation due to weather, I will not refund your deposit if you cancel or reschedule your test with less than a 48-hour notice.

NOTE: If a practical test for a type rating is requested that will involve travel to an alternate location, an additional charge will be included based on my standard daily fee, plus all additional expenses for travel and/or accommodations. Additional fees will be included in the base fee for service. These additional fees will be discussed at the time of scheduling.

NOTE: All scheduling is on a first come first serve basis. My business schedule will plan out as far a 60 days in advance. “Just letting you know should you find yourself disappointed because of waiting too late.”

NOTE: If you need to reschedule an appointment, it will be based on my schedule and availability. I book 30 to 60 days in advance, so be careful when you first schedule. Choose your date wisely. And be careful if you want to reschedule. It may be a long time to get rescheduled.

NOTE: It is expected that you and your instructor schedule well in advance. Good planning on your instructor’s part, and your ability to call to schedule your check ride giving yourself plenty of time in advance, will prevent stress on everyone. I highly recommend that you plan to schedule my services at least 30 days prior. 15 days minimum will be considered. Except for extenuating situations, I will not consider anything less than 5 days advanced planning.

NOTE: I am six-foot one inch tall and weight 230 lbs. I will not fit into most small two seat aircraft. You must provide an aircraft that will support us both comfortably, meet required W & B, and the required fuel load to complete the check ride. I reserve the right to determine if the type of aircraft is acceptable for me to conduct the check ride in.

NOTE: In accordance with FAA directives, all applications will be submitted via IACRA. No paper 8710 applications will be accepted.

Please Read The Following...

You can select the airport within the FSDO area that you wish the check ride to begin and finish with, as long as it is appropriate to the task.   You will be responsible to ensure we have a private location / area to conduct our pre and post briefings, to conduct the oral examination, and all related activity. We will need access to a public computer and printer. I reserve the right to determine if the location is suitable.

It takes time for me to conduct your check ride properly. I want to do it correctly, be fair and not impose any undue stress on either of us, and make sure you are relaxed and able to demonstrate your skills, knowledge, and ability in an honest amount of time. Do not plan any other activity the day of your check ride. It requires the better part of a full day to conduct the check. Leave plenty of time for this very important event.

When calling to schedule the practical test, you must make the appointment directly with me. I will not make appointments with instructors on behalf of their students.

STATEMENT:

I conduct myself to the highest standards required by the FAA, as an evaluator providing complete, un-bias, fair, honest, and thorough application of the applicable standards for certification. The check-ride / test is not “my check-ride” but administered by me directly from the applicable ACS or PTS, and in accordance with the Designated Examiners Handbook. It is the FAA’s check ride. If you have been trained correctly, and in accordance with the minimum standards outline in the ACS / PTS, mastered the skills and knowledge necessary for the certificate sought, and demonstrate your ability to fly in a safe manner, you will achieve success.

I will provide a comfortable atmosphere for you to take the check-ride / test, ensuring that you have the best possible environment to demonstrate your hard-earned skills. We will fly with safety as our absolute goal at all times. Always within the envelope of the aircraft, as well as your own personal limits. I will make sure that the time allotted is well scheduled for each area of operation and be careful never to hurry either of us. My goal is for your success.

In turn, I expect you to ensure you are properly trained and that the training has been properly documented. That the aircraft is airworthy and in safe operation, fueled for the flight, and with a weight and balance correct for the flight. You will be expected to bring all the necessary documents, manuals, and other tools needed to complete the task. You will also need to provide proper and correct personal documents. Arrived prepared!

You may call me anytime to discuss your upcoming check-ride. Feel free to ask any questions you may have with regard to the schedule, and how the practical test will be conducted. I also encourage your instructor to call me to ask any questions regarding their students check ride. My job is to provide the best possible environment, in a relaxed but professional manner, to conduct the practical test in a logical and correct way, and to offer you the opportunity to demonstrate your training, skills, and knowledge ......... to achieve success.

GOOD LUCK.....!
